Peel Park Fundamentals
At Peel Park Primary School, we want every child to leave each year group with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to succeed in the next stage of their education.
Our Peel Park Fundamentals set out the key learning and basic expectations we want children to achieve by the end of each year group in English and Mathematics. They provide a clear picture of the essential knowledge and skills that children should develop as they progress through school.
The Fundamentals have been carefully developed by our teachers and leaders, drawing on the National Curriculum and our school's curriculum, and are tailored to the expectations of each year group.
They are designed to:
- Make expectations clear for children, parents and teachers.
- Identify the essential knowledge and skills children need to secure each year.
- Help children understand what they are learning and working towards.
- Support teachers in identifying and addressing gaps in learning.
- Provide a clear foundation for the learning children will encounter in the following year group.
- Ensure that, as children move through Peel Park, they develop the strong foundations they need to become confident, independent learners.
The Fundamentals are not intended to represent everything children learn at Peel Park. Rather, they highlight the essential outcomes and expectations that we believe every child should work towards securing by the end of their year group.
We encourage parents and carers to use these documents to talk to their child about their learning, celebrate their achievements and support them in developing their skills at home.
Our ambition is simple: to ensure that every child leaves each year group with the fundamentals securely in place, ready for the next step in their learning journey.
